2024 FALL RECREATION REGISTRATION BY La Morenita - Now in our 46th year!

Here is everything you need to know (we hope) about Fall Recreation soccer (Please read before registering below):

  1. Fall Recreation soccer is made possible by local businesses who sponsor teams. These business partners help us keep our program as affordable as possible so that soccer may be accessible to all kids. If you would like to sponsor a team, please reach out to pweber@napaunited.org

  2. Anyone who turns 4 years-old in 2024 and up to 15 years-old can participate in Fall Rec Soccer as long as we have players to form a team and a coach. U-16 teams will play both in Napa and out of town.

  3. Teams are formed by birth year on a calendar basis, not age at the time of season, or by school calendar. Depending on when your child was born, they may not play with their classmates (e.g. a November-born player will be playing every other year with players from an older grade).

  4. Players must be registered with their birth year for the safety of all players. Players may not play down age groups.* Players may request to play up an age group.

  5. Practices will start as early as August 1st and no later than mid-August (depending on the team coach’s status). If players have not heard from coaches by August 15th, please contact us. Many coaches are still on vacation during this time.

  6. There are either one or two practices a week and a game during the weekend (we may have games during the week for older teams). The game schedule will be made public by no later than August 19.

  7. Practices times and locations are determined by the volunteer coach and will be during the week (Monday-Friday).

  8. Games begin the weekend of September 7-8.

  9. Fall Recreation soccer ends October 26-27.

  10. New for 2024, the U10 and older teams will keep scores and league standings will be kept. Teams will be sorted based off strength in several divisions.

  11. Recreation players are primarily put on teams based on the school they attend to attempt to have school friends play together.

  12. When registering, you can request playing with a friend. Friend requests are not guaranteed. It is best practice to have friends requesting each other. Keep in mind, more information provided in registration is better than less.

  13. If we cannot find a spot for your player, you will be fully refunded (less the credit card processing fee).

  14. Refunds: If request is sent to leave the program by July 1, 100% (less credit card processing fee); July 21, 50%; August 18, 25%; no refund if after the start of the season.

  15. Fall Recreation soccer teams are coached by volunteer parents who love to see their kids play and be a part of the joy soccer brings. If you want to volunteer to coach, please reach out to Luigi Cervone, luigi@napaunited.org. There is an option in the registration process to volunteer to coach. Without the coaches, soccer does not happen!

  16. Coaches are also encouraged to take the introductioin to Grassroots soccer online course by US Soccer. The initial online session is free which opens the door for subsequent online courses. More info can be found here: https://www.ussoccer.com/coaching

  17. Coaches receive their roster approximately in the third week of July. Coaches will be strongly encouraged to contact players at this time regradless if a practice schedule has been set.

  18. Coaches need to be fingerprinted, if they have not coached with Napa United in the past three years. Fingerprinting done for the school district, or other organizations, do not transfer over to youth soccer and must be completed (sorry for the inconvenience).

  19. Team managers are highly recommended to provide snacks after the game and to help communicate practice and game times for the coach.

  20. We will provide coaches with balls, limited cones, and bibs.

  21. Players are responsible for their own soccer cleats, shin guards, water, and sunscreen.

  22. Every child will get two Capelli jerseys, a pair of shorts, and a pair of socks.

  23. Uniforms will be distributed by the coaches before the first game.
